The Importance of Connecting with your Photographer

It can be over-whelming to find a photographer.  The market is saturated with too many to count and it’s tempting to just pick the first one you find.  However, taking the time to find the right photographer for you is very important!  (Canon Australia produced a video showing that what the photographer knows about you and is working to say in your photos makes all the difference in the outcome. Definitely worth the watch!)

Communication is key!

The photographer you choose should take the time to speak with you about what the photos will be used for, what you are trying to accomplish with them, and who the viewers will be.  This is vital to creating your image!

How does the photographer make you feel during your call?

Be sure the person you choose is someone you feel comfortable with, someone you can be relaxed and open with.  This is important because if you feel edgy, defensive, distant, or closed off with the photographer before the shoot, it will come through in the photo!

Follow-up

Do they respond quickly to your calls, texts or emails?  Do they provide the information you need in a timely manner as promised?  These are all signs of a professional.

If, after speaking with the photographer, you feel like they are listening and responding to what your needs are, they make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and they follow-up in a professional why…BOOK THEM!
