Why a Professional Photographer Matters

"A photograph is shaped more by the person behind the camera than by what is in front of it." - Cano

Does this surprise you?  The ubiquity of easy pictures via smart phones has made us forget how important the person taking the photograph is in shaping the message people receive about the person in the photo.  Ironically, photographic saturation and social media has made having a good professional photo of oneself even more important; LinkedIn demands professional photos that make potential employers, investors, etc. confident in your professionalism, for example.

Having a photographer that can set you apart is essential.  Someone who can bring your personality to life, who can help you look the part, and can produce high quality images is very important!  Just like any professional in a given industry, photographers have a studied understanding of every little thing that goes into a photo.  We understand how lighting, angles, colors, and composition effects the message a photo gives about a person, even how what you are talking about during a shoot impacts the message.  Your cousin with an iPhone can’t craft an image of you that sends the right professional message, but a professional photographer can.

Canon Australia  produced a fascinating video about the impact a photographer’s image of you has on the final photograph.
